During the process of swapping the throttlebody to the 4AGE item, I took a look at the rest of the intake system, and was less than impressed.
Two of the three main intake pipes are overly restrictive, so I have set about fixing this...
You can see here just how restrictive it is. (I have wire brushed mine to keep dirt off my desk and keyboard. Also because it made it all shiny :) ). The pipe from the flange to where the intercooler attaches is a triangle shape with small cross sectional area. I measured up the avaliable room in the engine bay, and found that a larger diameter pipe would have no trouble fitting.
Here are the prototype CAD drawings for the pipe that runs from the supercharger up to the intercooler. The flange is the same, but I've increased the diameter of the pipe to 2.5". Apart from that, it's stock fitment.
Once I've worked out the easiest way of building it, it'll be off to the machine shop to be made from either alloy or stainless.
