Oil and Filter Change

While I was perusing the shelves at Autobarn, a new addition to their product line caught my attention. Namely, Royal Purple engine oil. I had always used Mobil 1 oil in the past, but had heard of the superior properties of the regal colours, so I decided to give it a go. While I was pondering the merits of advanced lubricant technology, the last pack of H4 Philips GT150 globes beconed to me with their siren song of glittering illumination. So I chucked them in the basket too. A K&N oil filter recharge kit was found at half price, so that joined the others in the basket. Now all I had to do was hit Ebay for a TRD oil filter.
Fast forward a week or so (The globes were installed in the mean time), and I had the new red oil filter in my hot little hands. Armed with the filter, the Royal Purple and a bottle of oil flush, I set to work. A little while later and the Purple syrup (It actually is a purple colour!) was flowing through my engine.

UPDATE 1/12/07

For my next oil change, coming up soon (every 5000Kms), I'll be going to a slightly heavier oil. I have noticed a little bit of noise from the head due to the thin oil and with the summer months coming up I'll be going to a 10W-40 oil, again in Royal Purple.

I also have purchased a magnetic sump plug, to catch any nasties that may be floating around. That will be installed at the next oil change too.
