As I remove things, I tend to clean them up before reinstalling them. If that part is alloy, I break out the buffing wheel and give the part a polish. So far, I have done the crank angle sensor, the coolant pipe near the cam gears and am currently doing a spare set of rocker covers.
Looks better than raw cast aluminium or steel pipe. The rocker covers just need a fine sand and polish, then they'll be installed too. I have removed the cast in writing from the top of the covers, as well as all the daggy bits used to screw stuff down. My engine won't need them, so off they go.
