Purchase
Picked up the car today! Got it from a member of the forums listed above for a reasonable price. I commandeered the apprentice to drive the work truck home so I could load it up with the spare front struts, swaybar, subframe and AD-076 Bomex front bar.
The car is a 4AGZE powered AE101 Toyota Corolla GTZ Levin, with factory topmount intercooler, SC12 supecharger running stock boost, the superstrut twin pot front calipers and it's done around 97,000 Kms according to the odometer.
I did the usual transfer of rego stuff and gave it a bit of a 'drive'. I can tell you now, even in stock form, that supercharger makes a difference to low down torque!
You'll notice a heap of primer, that's from the previous owner. The car was due for a respray, but I said not to worry, just take the cost off the asking price and I'll sort it out myself. The afore mentioned apprentice's brother works at a panel shop, so mates rates will be put to good use.
'Candy shots'. Car is mechanically stock as a rock. Running stock 7-8 psi boost with the top-mount intercooler.
I plan to keep the car clean and presentable. That means no chrome, neon or wings. This thing will be a streetcar, not an amusement ride....
My plans include the following:
- Respray in pearlescent metallic black
- Exedy clutch with 2200pound clamping force (custom upgraded pressure plate)
- Air/water intercooler with front mount 'condenser'
- 4AGE throttlebody
- Dynaudio 2-way speakers and an IDMAX V3 or V4 sub driven by Alpine PDX series amps
- Braided Brake lines, Slotted rotors with Ferodo 2500 pads and Motul RBF 600 fluid
- Royal Purple engine oil with TRD filter
- Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W90 gearbox oil
- Forged 16-17" rims (Volk, Racing Hart or Buddy Club) wrapped in Toyo T1R rubber (or whatever I can afford after the rims....)
- Superpro polyurethane suspension bushes
- Tein Super Street coilovers With the EDFC (currently lowered on King Springs)
- Bomex AD-083 sideskirts (If they're still avaliable) and rear bar of some description
- Brake ducting, cold air induction and flat undertray, or part thereof
- Custom alloy radiator
- GT Apex motorised fold-in mirrors
- Full alarm with tilt, 2-stage shock and ultrasonic sensors and custom SMS paging/control device
- Fix 'puffy' dash (common problem, just try to get a decent one!!)
- Microtech ECU with dash unit and wideband Air/fuel sensor
- Fully worked head. Inc. Cams, Adj. sprockets, port/polish, springs, ceramic coating etc.
- Relocated oilfilter and front mount oil cooler.
- Whatever else I think of along the way
I already have the radiator on order. It was to go in my AE92 Seca, but if it fits without too much trouble, it'll go in the Levin instead. I'll have to fibreglass the front bar when I get time, I'll probably end up fitting it just because I can.
Half of the interior is out due to the planned respray, I was also supplied by the previous owner with a brand new set of front windscreen surrounds, made to order by Toyota Japan for the tidy sum of $350 or so. I'll use them when the new windscreen goes in after the respray. Not 100% sure yet, otherwisw they'll be kept, just incase...
